When you enable backup on Google Drive, the extension will request permission to access your account through the Google API. It is important to know that:

only has access to the files it creates itself. We cannot read your other documents, photos,
or private folders.
All synchronization communications are encrypted via HTTPS using standard Google OAuth2 protocols. Your
local notes are stored in the browser's chrome.storage.sync or
chrome.storage.local.
